Although Nashville attracts more visitors during the warmer months, winter in Nashville is not something to miss! Our wintertime activities and holiday events are local traditions, and there are things to do across the city throughout the whole season.
Every year, Nashville hosts its very own Christmas Parade. This Middle Tennessee tradition has been around since 1927 and has become a staple. It comes early in December, so if you’ve already made other plans, you will have another opportunity next year! For the 2018 parade, Kid Rock is the Grand Marshal. It also features other must-see performances, balloons, and floats!
During the holidays, head over to Cheekwood Gardens for Holiday LIGHTS. Cheekwood Gardens is a 55-acre botanical garden (and art museum) and is one of Nashville’s top cultural attractions. Holiday Lights at Cheekwood is a spectacular, family-friendly event that features 1 million Christmas lights! You’ll also have the opportunity to see real reindeer, listen to holiday carols, meet Santa Claus, attend Gingerbread Workshops, and more.
Looking for a more sporty way to fill your winter schedule? Get tickets to the Music City Bowl to watch a couple of the country’s top collegiate football teams play! This is one of Nashville’s biggest annual events, so you won’t want to miss it.
Nashville doesn’t disappoint on New Year’s Eve either. Every year, locals and visitors alike spend the evening at Music City Midnight, Nashville’s New Year’s Eve party! As you might expect, this event features live music, holiday lights, and fireworks. Past performers have included Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Gavin DeGraw, The Fray, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Oh, and did we mention this event is free?
